London, England-based Miglia Technology on Tuesday announced Harmony Express, an audio output device that offers what the company calls “virtual 5.1 output” using the USB 2.0 interface of compatible Macs and PCs. The device is about the size of a USB flash memory drive and works without the use of additional drivers, according to Miglia. Harmony Express sports a mono mic input and a mini jack output. The unit also sports a top-mounted mute button. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.4 or higher and an available USB 2.0 port. Harmony Express costs US$59, €49 or £29 excluding VAT.
