Developer Incogen on Thursday announced the release of version 3.0 of Visual Integrated Bioinformatics Environment (VIBE), a server-client development environment for analyzing workflow management that integrates with such platforms as Sun Microsystems’ Grid Engine and the TimeLogic DeCypher accelerator platform. This upgrade adds Mac OS X support on the server and client sides and features video-based tutorials, simplified set-up and configuration, the ability to bookmark analysis strategies, an integrated Launchpad for accessing applications and URLs and more.
VIBE 3.0 also offers a desktop version for the first time in the application’s history. The desktop version offers everything available in the server-client version, with prices starting below US$4,000. Incogen’s Web site does not list pricing for the server-client edition, nor does it offer Mac OS X system requirements for version 3.0.
