Quantrix on Tuesday announced the release of Quantrix Modeler 1.2, which brings the quantitative modeling software to Mac OS X. Quantrix Modeler was developed as a more robust alternative to such spreadsheet applications as Microsoft Excel, enabling users to develop data models for use in business planning, engineering, scientific research and similar fields. They can use the software to express calculations as 3D models and build scenarios based on the data.
Quantrix Modeler sells for US$990, with academic ($249) and non-profit ($495) pricing available, as well as volume pricing, which is available upon request. You can download a 30-day trial from the Quantrix Web site. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3, Java 1.4.2, a G4 processor running at 1GHz, 256MB RAM and 50MB hard drive space. Mozilla 1.7 or higher is required to view Dynamic HTML export in a Web browser, which is a new feature in version 1.2.
