End If Software on Thursday released MediaMaid Open, the latest in its series of MediaMaid digital asset management (DAM) applications for use with FileMaker Pro. Open enables users to access its code and modify it for their own use. It comes in three versions: Phase I offers partial access to the source code; Phase II features full access, a license for corporate use and a set of FileMaker Pro plug-ins; Phase III includes everything in Phase II plus a license for unlimited use and distribution.
The plug-ins included in Phase II and III purchases include: Powersolutions’ Inside Scan, Troi File Plugin, Troi Text Plugin, Troi Dialog Plugin and New Millenniums’ SecureFM. Pricing is US$395 for Phase I, $5,995 for Phase II and $8,995 for Phase III. Upgrades from other versions of MediaMaid to Phase I are free; a 30-day demo is available for download from the End If Web site. MediaMaid Open currently only works with FileMaker Pro 6 — a version compatible with FileMaker Pro 7 is due for release later this quarter. Mac OS X v10.2 is required.
