San Francisco, Calif.-based developer OpenOSX on Friday announced the release of
Geographic Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS) 5.4. This new version of its Geographical Information System (GIS) software features a new user interface, datum transformations, better 3D visualization, LIDAR tools, 3D raster vortex tools, the ability to export and import files to and from The MathWorks’ MatLab software and more. GRASS 5.4 also includes an optional preview of GRASS 5.7, which offers a new Display Manager, symbol support, charting, easy printing and more.
Upgrades from previous versions are US$20 as a download or $25 delivered on a CD. The full version is $40 as a download, $50 on CD. Bundles that include subscriptions for free updates and relevant O’Reilly publications are also available. Mac OS X v10.3 is required.
