Better Energy Systems is showing off its
solar-powered charger at London’s MacExpo. The device, slated for a December release in the US at a price of $99, is about the size and shape of a computer mouse and fans out into three solar panels. Requiring between 8 – 10 hours to charge, a fully charged Solio can easily recharge a mobile phone battery or iPod. The Solio charges an iPod at about the same rate as Apple’s standard power supply and will hold its charge for up to six months.
Currently available in the UK and Japan, the Solio ships with a variety of adapters that accommodate common types of mobile phones and PDAs. An adapter compatible with the iPod will ship with the unit when it appears in the US.
