With offices in the United States and Ukraine, Mac software developer and publisher
is already an international company, but “international” took on a new meaning for today when Software MacKiev announced the worldwide availability of its titles. Software MacKiev is responsible for Broderbund The Print Shop for Mac — Mac OS X Edition, Broderbund Kid Pix Deluxe 3X and the World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia, and for the first time those products are available to Mac users outside the United States and Canada.
“You wouldn’t believe the number of requests we’ve gotten from international Mac users who want to buy these titles,” said Software MacKiev CEO Jack Minsky. Minsky told MacCentral that his company has been negotiating to make these titles available abroad with their respective license holders. Minsky suggested that Software MacKiev would also investigate the possibility of localizing specific titles in different languages, depending on demand from regional markets.
Software MacKiev is selling its titles from its location on the expo show floor of this week’s MacExpo in London, and Minsky confirmed that Software MacKiev’s titles will also be available on the shelves of Apple’s Regent Street, London store; the new location opens on Saturday. European Mac software distributor Softline is managing Software MacKiev’s distribution to retailers throughout Europe.
