ProVue Development has released Panorama V, an upgrade to the company’s RAM-based database software that offers an updated user interface in addition to a variety of new features, including Live Clairvoyance, which produces search results as you type; support for dragging and dropping VCard data; built-in Internet connectivity for accessing and manipulating online data; and more. In addition, all databases created with Panorama versions 2, 3 or 4 are compatible with the new software.
Panorama uses your Mac’s RAM for manipulating data, putting the slower hard drive to work only when saving files. ProVue notes that Panorama can cram more than 100,000 records into a file smaller than 10MB. The full development version of Panorama V is US$299, or $313.95 with the Enhanced Image Pack, which extends the software’s ability to display images by adding JPEG, TIFF, GIF, Photoshop and other popular formats. The runtime version is $129.95, or $144.90 with the Enhanced Image Pack. Upgrade prices start at $139.95 and $59.95 for the development and runtime editions of Panorama 4.x, respectively, with licenses costing more for the earlier versions. Mac OS X v10.2 is required.
