Alias on Monday announced that it has released MotionBuilder 6 worldwide, for Mac OS X and Windows XP. The new version of the 3D character animation software is the first release of MotionBuilder by Alias, which acquired MotionBuilder developer Kaydara this past year. Improvements to MotionBuilder 6 include an expanded suite of keyframing tools, new rigging and precision animation tools, new pipeline tools including an improved Story Timeline and preview capabilities, a new Sets tool, interface enhancements and more.
MotionBuilder 6 comes in Standard and Pro packages; the Standard package costs US$995, while the Pro edition includes one year of maintenance, tech support and upgrades for US$4,195. System requirements requirements call for a G4 or faster, Mac OS X v10.3 or higher, 256MB RAM, 300MB hard disk space, OpenGL-compatible graphics with at least 16MB VRAM, and CD-ROM drive.
Alias also announced it will release a “fully functional non-commercial trial version”today; the trial version works for 30 days.
