RE:Vision Effects Inc. on Monday released Twixtor 4.0, the latest version of the company’s plug-in for use with After Effects, Final Cut Pro and Combustion. Twixtor enables you to speed up or slow down digital video by creating new frames that are interpolated into the sequence. This upgrade adds an option for removing motion blur when slowing down footage, recognizes the markers that prevent it from interpolating frames across a transition, uses the host application’s settings for rendering fields and more.
The Pro version contains everything found in the standard software and adds the ability to import and export motion vectors in applications that work in 16bpc or higher. It’s US$595 while the regular edition is $329.99; RE:Vision has now added renderer-only versions for $65.99 and $119, respectively. Upgrades from the regular or Pro versions of Twixtor 1, 2 or 3 are $49.95 but upgrades to Twixtor Pro 4 are $265. Until Feb. 28, owners of Twixtor Pro 2 or 3 can upgrade to Twxixtor Pro 4 for $99.95; after that date, the price will be $149.95. Anyone who purchased either version of Twixtor 3 after Sept. 1 can upgrade for free.
RE:Vision doesn’t list the minimum version of Mac OS X required, but its Web site states that Twixtor 4.0 supports After Effects 5.0, Final Cut Pro 4.0, Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and Combustion 3.0.4.
