Giga Designs on Tuesday announced the release of new single and dual processor G-celerator G4 upgrades that have been tested at 1.7GHz or 1.73GHz, even though their listed speeds run 1.42GHz or 1.6GHz. The processors feature 512KB on-chip L2 cache and require Mac OS X v10.3.5. While the G4 Cube is only compatible with the single processor upgrades, all Gigabit Ethernet through Quicksilver 2002 Power Macs, as well as the dual processor-compatible Sawtooth models, are compatible with both types. The 1.42GHz and 1.6GHz single processor cards are US$449 and $499 while the same speeds in dual processor configurations cost $699 and $799.
