Startly Technologies LLC on Monday released QuicKeys X3, an upgrade to its automation utility that features a redesigned user interface. In addition, it offers new shortcut triggers that activate when applications open, quit, move to the front or move to the back; when you perform specific actions with a device connected to a USB port; when you speak a phrase into your Mac’s microphone; or when a specific amount of time has elapsed.
QuicKeys X3 also includes Public Shortcuts, which allow you to publish shortcuts that other users can subscribe to; the ability to use variables and equations in shortcuts; a Switch Printer shortcut that automatically selects the best printer; Text Tools shortcuts for text formatting operations; and more. This is a US$29.95 upgrade for QuicKeys X2 users; the full version is $99.95. Mac OS X v10.3, 128MB RAM and 20MB hard drive space are required.
