Synk Audio Studios LLC has released a Beta of Musicbed DV, an application that enables digital video editors to insert royalty-free music over their work and customize it in real-time. The music can serve as a “temp track” — shorthand for placeholder music that aids in editing until the final score is composed — or as incidental music that underlines certain scenes but doesn’t provide the major theme. Editors pull the music from the Synk Music Library catalog, which provides music for a variety of genres and moods. The developer hasn’t stated when the Beta will end, nor has it announced pricing for the final version. Mac OS X v10.3, a G4 or G5 processor, 512MB RAM, 200MB free hard drive space and QuickTime 6.5 are required.
