Cary, N.C.-based Intelli Innovations Inc. on Tuesday published IntelliScanner Wine Collector, which allows you to use the included reader to scan in barcodes and keep track of wines by name, varietal, winery, country, type, color region and other criteria. The software features Internet-enabled autofill for automatically filling in database fields as you scan barcodes, the ability to track wines’ maturity with a color-coded indicator and tools for entering tasting notes, rating bottles, tracking bottle locations and more. Import and export tools enable you to share data in XML, Excel, FileMaker Pro or HTML format.
IntelliScanner Wine Collector comes in two bundles, one with a USB reader for US$179 and one with a Bluetooth-enabled reader for $279. The Bluetooth scanner automatically passes information to the database if it’s within range of your Mac; if not, it can hold up to 250 barcodes until you return to the computer. The solution will ship on Jan. 10; the prices listed are valid through Jan. 14, but Intelli Innovations doesn’t say what they will be after that date. Mac OS X v10.3 is required.
