Soft-porn for the iPod?
You knew it had to happen. And who better to kick off the trend than the venerable men’s magazine,
No longer must iPod photo owners call up Roxy Music’s
for album-art-titillation satisfaction. Playboy.com now offers
iBod, “a free 25-image gallery of sexy Playboy models on your handheld device or on your TV.” Click the download link and a 2.3MB zip archive wings its way to your computer. Expand the archive and 25 jpeg images between 56- and 196 KB are yours. Load them onto your iPod photo as you would any other jpeg images and be prepared for a visit to HR when you’re caught showing off your latest find around the company water cooler.

In the past the company’s legal beagles have been swift to fling cease and desist orders at websites that sully Apple’s reputation by suggesting that its products are an appropriate vehicle for consuming erotica. Playboy’s black silhouette of the bodacious unclad model is more than a simple homage to Apple’s current iPod commercials and other websites have been taken to task for far more subtle parodies. Of course, these weren’t websites associated with a magazine read by millions of potential iPod owners. Will Apple Legal stick to the letter of the law and risk the wrath of Hef and his readers?
