Tokyo-based Tunewear on Wednesday announced four new accessories for use with the iPod or iPod mini:
water-resistant cases and
for the company’s Icewear mini cases. Prie Hook, which will ship in mid-January for US$54, features a large metal hook that you can use to attach the leather case to a belt loop or other spot. A flap at the bottom opens for charging the MP3 player in a dock; slots at the top and bottom allow access to all the ports. It’s available in two models, one that fits all 4G iPods — including the iPod photo — and one that fits the iPod mini; the hook on the latter doesn’t swivel 360 degrees, however.
Poptune wrappers, which will also ship in mid-January with an $8.95 price tag, are available in eight patterns: leopard, zebra, Americana, polka dot, pastel check, hounds tooth, camouflage and heartbeats. Compatible only with the iPod mini, Poptune wraps around the body of the MP3 player, leaving the top and bottom open for access to the ports. It also provides openings for the screen and click wheel.
Waterwear cases come in two versions, one for the 4G iPod and one for the iPod mini. Shipping at the end of January for $24.95, the transparent waterproof cases are made of plastic and feature a silicone circle over the click wheel, enabling you to access it without removing your iPod. Waterwear also includes an isolator plug for connecting your headphones, an elastic armband and a lanyard for wearing it around your neck. Tunewear notes that the iPod photo will fit inside the case, but the company warns that its mirrored back will likely scratch in the process.
Finally, the aluminum clip is compatible with the Icewear silicone case for the iPod mini. Cut from a single block of aluminum, the silver clip is designed to snugly fit over the Icewear case and fasten to a belt or other spot with its steel spring. The clip also has a loop for hooking on a strap, which is not included. Tunewear expects to ship the product at the end of January for $18.85.
