Brother International Corp. on Monday introduced its HL-2040 and HL-2070N personal laser printers. Compatible with Macs and Windows PCs, the HL-2040 and HL-2070N cost US$149.99 and $229.99 respectively. The HL-2040 is expected to hit retail store shelves in January; the HL-2070N will follow in February.
Both printers can output up to 20 pages per minute and can print at resolutions up to 2400 x 600 dots per inch. They hold up to 250 sheets of paper and connect to the Mac or PC using USB 2.0, or, in the HL-2070N’s case, through an Ethernet network interface. The HL-2040 features 8MB of memory; the HL-2070N adds PCL6 emulation and a total of 16MB RAM. Either model can also be configured for wireless networking using Brother’s NC-2200W external IEEE 802.11b-compatible print server, which costs US$249.99. Both are compatible with Mac OS X 10.1 or higher, or Mac OS 9.1 or higher. Brother’s Web site had not been updated with information about the new models as MacCentral posted this article.
