New developer Helixent Technologies on Tuesday announced the release of its first product:
iFlicks, a utility for organizing, browsing and playing digital videos. The software supports the .mov and .avi file formats as well as other codecs that use MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. iFlicks can show videos in full-screen playback and offers play, pause, stop, fast-forward and rewind controls. Its gallery view allows you to browse your videos by looking at frames culled from them, and its iTunes-like smart collections feature automatically filters the database by director, title or other criteria.
iFlicks also integrates with Netflix, enabling you to view your rental queue, track your rental activity, integrate RSS feeds from the service as well as those used by friends and more. This utility sells for US$29.95 and requires Mac OS X v10.3. A demo limited to a five-video library is available from the Helixent Web site.
