Audiovox Corp. has introduced the iPod Mobile Interface Kit, which enables users of Apple Computer Inc.’s popular iPod music player to directly connect the device to many factory-installed car stereos. The kit charges the iPod’s internal battery and also allows drivers to use radio and steering wheel controls to change tracks, fast-forward and rewind.
Audiovox’s iPod Mobile Interface Kit connects through the CD Changer port available on many factory-installed automobile stereos. It will be available in January both as a dealer-installed and “Do It Yourself” kit, and will retail for $200: Users buy the kit and call a toll-free number, and Audiovox ships the proper connecting cable within 24 to 36 hours.
