Kano Technologies Corp.
is getting any early start to next week’s expected flurry of Mac-related announcements at
Macworld Conference & Expo
by announcing its 4.8 Terabyte (TB) SureVAULT Pro RAID-50 Rackmount, a 4U-tall rackmountable data storage system that sports a FireWire 800 interface.
The SureVAULT RAID-50 Rackmount is a plug-and-play RAID system compatible with Mac OS X and Windows computers. The dual-level array system stripes multiple RAID-5 sets into a single array. That way, the system can sustain up to four simultaneous drive failures — one in each RAID-5 set — without data loss. The chassis sports load-sharing, hot-swappable drive bays and hot-swappable power supplies with alarms.
The system will be available in February with multiple storage capacities ranging up to a maximum of 4.8TB. The system’s price will start at US$5,799. Kano is displaying in book 2346 at Macworld Expo, which runs January 11 – 14, 2005 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif.
