ArKaos on Thursday released ArKaos VJ 3.0.3, an upgrade to its video jockey software that adds support for DMX, a protocol that enables the software to be used as a remote media server which controls a lighting console. The Mac version of ArKaos can only connect to a lighting console through the ArtNet Ethernet protocol — the DMX-USB interface works only with Windows machines.
ArKaos VJ 3.0.3 also adds several new commands to the Medialon Show Control system protocol contained in the software. This is a free upgrade for registered owners of version 3.0 or higher; the full software is €299 (US$359). Mac OS X v10.2, a G4 800MHz processor, 256MB RAM (512MB recommended) and QuickTime 6.5.x are required.
