Compact Power Systems Inc. on Thursday announced the expansion of its line of Cellboost products — disposal battery charger systems that have up to now provided cell phones with additional juice when their own internal batteries run low. Among the new products that will be supported with the expanded line is Apple Computer Inc.’s iPod.
The Cellboost plugs in to the power connector — or the case of the iPod, the Dock Connector — and provides “several hours of additional power” to the iPod. Cellboost products are available for use in a pinch when you can’t get near or don’t have time to connect to an AC recharger, but still need the juice. The Cellboost device can be used all at once or in several boosts, and is designed to be thrown out after it’s drained.
Compact Power Systems Inc. plans to offer the new iPod Cellboost charger in the second calendar quarter of 2005. Pricing was not announced. The company also announced Cellboost products for BlackBerry, PalmOne Treo and Danger SideKick smartphones, camcorders, and Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP and DS models. The Web site was not updated with new product information as MacCentral posted this article.
