Samsung on Thursday added to its line of Digimax digital cameras with its new V700, A5, A6, A7, U-CA 505 and A400 models. The Samsung Camera Web site had not been updated with the new cameras as MacCentral posted this article, nor had the company noted shipping dates.
The V700 is a 7.4-megapixel camera priced at US$399.99. It features a two-inch LCD screen, 10X digital zoom, a macro mode for snapping shots of subjects as close as 4 centimeters away, 10 scene modes, the ability to shoot VGA quality (640 x 480) video clips at 30fps (frames per second) and more. It uses SD/MMC storage cards and includes PictBridge technology for printing images directly to compatible printers. The V700 comes with Digimax Viewer, ArcSoft PhotoImpression, ArcSoft VideoImpression and Digimax Reader software.
The A5, A6 and A7 cameras offer five-, six- and seven-megapixel capacity, respectively; pricing was not announced by Samsung. The A5 and A6 cameras feature 3X optical and 4X digital zoom while the A7 bumps the digital to 5X. All three offer the same scene modes, macro mode, digital video and PictBridge capabilities as the V700, with the same SD/MMC slot for storage cards and the same software suite. The A5 includes 16MB of internal memory while the A6 and A7 each contain 32MB.
The U-CA 505 is a five-megapixel camera that sells for $199.99. Its features are the same as the A5, although it increases the digital zoom to 5X and it includes a self-photo mirror that helps you line up self-portraits.
The A400 is a $189.99, four-megapixel camera that offers nine customizable photo frame modes, five scene modes, 2.8X optical and 4X digital zoom and a macro mode that enables you to get as close as 5 centimeters to your subject. It includes a two-inch LCD screen and can shoot VGA quality video at 24fps. The A400 supports nine power sources — AA Alkaline, Lithium, Ni-Mn, Ni-Zn, CR-V3, Ni-MH, Ni-Cd, the Samsung I-Pack SBP-1303 and an AC adapter — and incorporates 16MB of internal memory, with the ability to add storage in its SD/MMC storage slot.
