MindVision Software has released version 1.5 of VISE X, its utility for building software installers. This update offers several new features, including the ability to create single-file updaters that contain only the information needed to upgrade an application. In addition, you can use VISE X 1.5 to direct your installers to add or remove files to or from the Dock and Startup Items folder as well as check permissions and provide alternatives to users whose accounts don’t allow them access to the primary install location.
VISE X 1.5 can also create shadow folders that offer different install options; share forms between archives; make entries in an Apple property list file; match the installer window titles to the user’s default language; undo or redo Mach-O prebindings; and more. This is a free update for customers with current annual licenses. VISE X licensing depends on the number of software copies you are distributing: prices start at US$650 per year for up to 20,000 copies. You can pay $500 per year to create an unlimited number of installers for non-commercial use while educational customers or users whose installers will be employed in-house can pay a $995 one-time fee.
