iPort is an in-wall docking station for Apple Computer Inc.’s iPod aimed specifically at high-end home media installations. Now the iPort — shipping in February for US$598 — works with more than just audio. At Macworld Expo this week Sonance will unveil the iPort’s support for images and slideshows stored on the iPod photo.
Designed to work as an in-wall “cradle” for the iPod, iPort is designed to connect the iPod to an integrated home theater system. It features a dock connector port and is compatible with the iPod photo, click-wheel iPod and iPod mini. With video support, iPort users will be able to send pictures or slideshows installed on their iPod photo to any TV or monitor connected to the entertainment system.
