Although the software was “soft-launched” in December, auto.des.sys. Inc. this week publicly introduces form.z 5.0, a major new upgrade to its solid and surface 3D modeler for Mac OS X. The new release, the first version to be native for Mac OS X, also adds an open architecture, new tools, features and enhancements.
The open architecture makes it possible to extend the application’s capabilities either by using scripts or plug-ins, according to the developer. New features include the ability to add new custom-defined attributes; a new “Information Management” tool that can produce lists, spreadsheets, records and bills of materials; a new “Extensions” menu that helps to debug and manage scripts; new modeling tools that generate ruled parametric surfaces, solid stars, detailed screws and bolts, accurate gears, draft sweeps, formula curves and formula surfaces; the ability to clone Objects that can be transformed or replaced as a group; and more.
With this release, auto.des.sys ends its support of “Classic” Mac OS. The new version of form.Z requires Mac OS X v10.2 or later. No pricing was listed.
