SessionLoops and Submersible Music on Tuesday announced three new collections of drum loops. SessionLoops’ Drum Foundations Vol. One, a library in Apple Loops format, features Simon Phillips, who has played with Pete Townshend, Tears For Fears and other rock artists. The 34 drum sessions contained in the collection each feature multiple tracks, enabling users to create custom mixes by borrowing a snare drum track from one session and a bass drum track from another, for example. Pricing is US$49.95, or $79.95 in stereo, and the set is compatible with GarageBand, Soundtrack and other applications that use Apple Loops files.
Submersible has partnered with Zoro, who has logged playing time with Lenny Kravitz and others, and reggae drummer Sly Dunbar (Peter Tosh, Bob Marley) to put together ZoroPack I and SlyPack I, DrummerPack add-ons for DrumCore. The former runs the gamut from ballads to funk to hard rock, with beats-per-minute (bpm) starting at 60 and hitting as high as 170. Drum tracks found in the latter are in the 60 to 140 bpm range.
Submersible expects to release both DrummerPacks in the second quarter. They will sell for $79.99 and will require DrumCore 1.5, a free update for DrumCore 1.0 users that includes support for DrummerPacks. The company said it will showcase DrumCore 1.5 and its new DrummerPacks at this week’s NAMM trade show, happening Jan. 20 to 23 in Anaheim, Calif.
