EZQuest recently introduced its Thunder Pro A/V line of external hard drives, with the first featuring three FireWire 400 ports, one of which is in the front of the unit. Thunder Pro also offers a smart switch that automatically turns on the drive when it’s plugged in. Shipping in March, the new drives come in 160GB (US$249), 200GB ($289), 250GB ($349) and 400GB ($699) capacities and include a disk defragmentation utility as well as software for tuning them for use with audio/visual applications, such as Final Cut Pro and Digidesign Pro Tools. Mac OS X v10.1.5 is required. EZQuest said that it will introduce Thunder Pro A/V drives with FireWire 800 interfaces “within a few weeks.”
