Aspyr Media Inc. has decided to give potential Mac Battlefield 1942 buyers a taste of what they’ll get from the full game by releasing the Battlefield 1942 multiplayer demo, now available for download (if you’ve got the time and 282MB of disk space to spare).
Battlefield 1942 is the legendary World War II-era action game that puts you in the thick of the combat on Omaha Beach, Stalingrad, Wake Island and elsewhere. What makes Battlefield 1942 unique from other World War II FPS’s isn’t just its emphasis on multiplayer, arena-style combat in sprawling, open environments, but your ability to control three dozen different vehicles from the era — everything from tanks, half-tracks and jeeps to ships, fighters and bombers. You play as five distinct character classes, each with unique capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. General details about Battlefield 1942 are available from Aspyr’s Web site.
