(CCT) has partnered with Apple to co-sponsor the launch of Nemeaux, a supercomputer that was unveiled on Thursday. Purchased with a US$114,000 grant, Nemeaux is a cluster of 24 Xserves that is currently testing CCT’s Cactus Framework and Apple’s Xgrid, two grid computing applications that researchers are using to build tools for distributing audio rendering. Nemeaux will also eventually provide high-end computing power for art and digital video projects, as well as numerical relativity, fluid dynamics and scientific visualization problems.
