The MathWorks on Tuesday released its new Fixed-Point Toolbox and Simulink Fixed Point, which add fixed-point design capabilities and better fixed-point simulation in MatLab and Simulink, respectively. Fixed-Point Toolbox offers the ability to develop fixed-point algorithms using bit-true arithmetic and logical operations with word lengths from two to 65,535 bits. The Toolbox works with Simulink’s Fixed Point module, enabling bit-true testing of models created with it. Simulink Fixed Point also automatically generates fixed-point ANSI C-code and can benchmark fixed-point implementations against the original floating-point designs.
Pricing for each starts at US$1,000. Contact The MathWorks for MatLab and Simulink pricing. Fixed-Point Toolbox requires MatLab while Simulink Fixed Point requires MatLab, Simulink and Fixed-Point Toolbox. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.2, a G4 or G5 processor, 256MB RAM (512MB recommended) and 220MB hard drive space.
