Many companies use LG’s screens in their monitors, but this is the first time we’ve been able to review an LG branded display. This silver and black 19-inch display has a hinged-stand design on a flat, round rotating base. It features one digital and one analog connector, and ships with an analog cable. A USB option can be purchased separately. The DVI cable is also sold separately. The display ships with calibration software, but it works only on the Windows platform.
The base of the stand is removable and must be assembled when setting up the display. Assembly is snap—literally. I accidentally broke off a piece of the case used for cable management when trying to attach the power and DVI cable. I might be a little clumsy, but this is not a well-constructed case, either.
Using our standard LCD test files to evaluate performance, we found that the Flatron was able to display consistent color at wide viewing angle and had clear and legible text. Colors were pleasing and fairly accurate, though a bit on the cool/blue side especially in the grays.
