Web Crossing Inc. on Monday announced support for podcasting with its eponymous message board and collaboration software. The new feature lets Web Crossing users make available audio files using a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed.
Podcasting is a new trend in audio file distribution that lets audiences download MP3 audio files to an iPod or other digital music player. It’s catching on in blogs, newscasts and other media. Typically, the files are made available using RSS-compatible newsreaders. Web Crossing’s podcasting capability has been added to its latest Weblog and RSS plug-ins. The plug-ins don’t require the user or administrator to have XML scripting capabilities in order to add podcasting to their site.
The new podcast-enabled Weblog and RSS plug-ins are available to all Web Crossing 5 users free, for a limited time. Visit the Web site for more details.
