Bob “Dr. Mac” Levitus on Monday announced the grand opening of Doctor Mac Direct, a new service for people looking for troubleshooting, tech support and training on any Mac software issue. Users can make their requests through the Web site or through a switchboard, available toll-free at 877-DRMAC4U (877-376-2248).
The service — manned by “hand-selected industry veterans” — allows users to receive either phone-based support or what’s described as “a Web-based control method that allows the Mac expert to see and work on the problem remotely.” Doctor Mac Direct also offers online interactive training, system migration assistance, pre-purchase buying advice and more. Doctor mac Direct charges US$30 per quarter hour for problem resolution; the service guarantees resolution in the time estimated, or will “will continue working toward resolution at no additional cost.”
