Canto on Tuesday announced the release of Cumulus 6.5, an update to its Digital Asset Management (DAM) software for Mac and windows. Improvements to administration are central to this release, although changes have been made to the user experience as well.
For administrators, support has been added for Lightweight Directory Asset Protocol (LDAP), new administration tools have been introduced, user management has been improved and a new Server Console has been added.
On the user end, “Actions” is a new feature that defines a set of procedures that can be performed at once; users can now create “Metadata Templates” to fill metadata fields with preset values. Image Color Management (ICM) is now supported, CMYK support has been enhanced in the Pixel Image Converter, and lossless rotation of JPEG originals is now supported as well. “QuickSearches” can be customized and queries can be selected from the toolbar. Cumulus 6.5 also finds duplicates and missing asset records.
Cumulus 6.5 Single User, Workgroup (Server Solutions) and Enterprise are available in English, German, French and Japanese. Server versions are available for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and Solaris operating systems. Client and Single User versions are available for Mac OS X and Windows. Upgrades are available for users who participate in the Upgrade Advantage Program.
