In my March Mac 911 column I recommended a solution for adding phone-dialing capabilities to recent versions of FileMaker Pro (phone dialing was supported in older versions of FileMaker but has since disappeared). That solution was Automated Workflows’ $15 Dial Phone From X accompanied with Macron Soft’s $12 ABDialer 2.
Jon Nathan writes in to say that his $12 Jon’s Phone Tool —includes dialing from FileMaker Pro as well as many other applications. Additionally it can dial through a Bluetooth phone, your Mac’s modem or speakers, and works with Vonage, CallVantage, Skype, Ovolab Phlink, Parliant’s PhoneValet, an Asterisk PBX server, or X-Lite by Xten Networks, Inc.
It also includes a call timer, text-to-phone converter (for those times when you’d rather not search your phone for the translation to 1-800-NOSCROD), a dialing log, and a Lookup feature for quickly pulling up phone numbers stored in Apple’s Address Book, Microsoft’s Entourage, Now Software’s Now Contact, or Palm’s Palm Desktop.
It’s worth a look.
