Michael Tsai’s Bayesian spam filtering software for Mac OS X, SpamSieve, was updated to version 2.2.4 on Thursday. The new release gains faster message processing for Microsoft’s Entourage e-mail client, using new scripts, improves its accuracy through better HTML and header processing, can play sounds when mail arrives, adds more standard blocklist rules for non-Latin character sets, and much more. For a complete list of changes, check the Web site. SpamSieve 2.2.4 is a free update for registered users; the software costs US$25 to buy and requires Mac OS X v10.2 or later. It works with most major e-mail clients for the Mac including Apple Mail, Eudora, Mailsmith and others.
