Pheed has made a pre-release version of its Pheeder RSS (Really Simple Syndication) browser available for download. In addition to enabling you to subscribe to news feeds that auto-refresh at defined intervals and organize them into folders, Pheeder can subscribe to any XML file local or remote, including local system files that you want to monitor for changes or Web sites that publish data in XML format.
Pheeder can also export its feed list to OPML and auto-discover new feeds, as well as create dynamic searches that filter unneeded items from your subscriptions. In addition, it supports user-definable XSLT as well as user-created plug-ins. A Pheed representative told MacCentral that he’s “aiming at getting the final release out early this summer” and is “shooting for [a] US$25” license fee once he publishes version 1.0. For now, Pheeder is free, but it expires afer two weeks. Mac OS X v10.3 is required.
