Umax Technologies Inc. on Thursday announced the release of its Astra 6700 flatbed scanner. Compatible with Macs and PCs and equipped with USB 2.0, the scanner has been developed for advanced consumers, film photographers and imaging prosumers, according to the company. It features 2400 x 4800 dot per inch resolution and 48-bit scanning.
The new flatbed scanner ships with LaserSoft Imaging’s SilverFast SE for Mac OS X and also includes a suite of Windows-only software. It’s equipped with buttons for one-touch e-mail, scan and copy. The US$149.95 scanner ships with a transparency cover that enables scans of negatives up to 4×5 inches. Umax’s Web site had not been updated with info on the new model as MacCentral posted this article.
