Stalker Software Inc. on Tuesday announced the forthcoming release of Communigate Pro v4.3, a new version of their communications server for Mac OS X and other platforms. The new release sports what Stalker calls a new “carrier grade” Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) infrastructure better suite to large-scale service providers and enterprises. The new release will be available for download in early March.
SIP can be used for Voice over IP (VoIP), multimedia, instant messaging, remote application sharing and other real-time applications. The updated Communigate Pro software provides registry services on a scale that heretofore had to be served by dedicated hardware solutions, according to the developer.
Communigate Pro v4.3 now allows users to initiate SIP calls directly from their address book. Stalker plans to extend this functionality to VoIP call management, SIP filtering and spam prevention as well.
Also new in this release are three new interface options in 12 languages; the interfaces mimic Microsoft’s Outlook and Entourage software, and a new “Internet mail-like” GUI for Web mail.
Communigate Pro v4.3 is free to customers within their maintenance period; others can upgrade to the new version for 35 percent off the list price. Communigate Pro costs US$699 for a single server 25 user pack– dynamic clusters range from 2,500 to 25 million or more users.
