iTunes’ free download of the week is
“Smile” by Michael Lord, a melodic modern rocker with a deft singer-songwriter touch. He’s a Coldplay without the over-the-top anthems, a Michael Penn for a younger generation.
Moby has an exclusive
Hotel Album sampler at iTunes, a single seven-minute track that previews his upcoming album (out March 22nd). Also exclusive to iTunes is a Jennifer Lopez four-song
“Get Right” EP that has four remixes by Louis Vega (of
Masters at Work fame). Le Tigre, led by former Bikini Kill singer Kathleen Hannah, has a live EP called
“Morning Becomes Eclectic” at iTunes that was recorded at the studio of famous Santa Monica-based radio station KCRW. Country star Keith Urban has a four-song
“Session@AOL” live EP at iTunes.
Exclusive singles at iTunes include The Kills’
“The Good Ones,” The Killers
“Mr. Brightside” (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Mix), and Ludacris’
“Get Back” (Sum 41 Rock Remix).
New album releases at iTunes include The Thievery Corporation’s
The Cosmic Game, Tori Amos’
The Beekeeper, Kings of Leon’s
Aha Shake Heartbreak, Robbers on High Street’s
Tree City, and Unwritten Law’s
Here’s to the Mourning.
Two notable new additions to the iTunes catalog are
Heaven Up Here by Echo and the Bunnymen.
Bleep.com has two new labels: the adventure-minded Kranky Records and Memphis Industries. One Memphis Industries album that has turned heads is The Go! Team’s Thunder, Lightning, Strike , a fun and energetic album that sounds like an indie rock/classic hip hop mash-up. Though it’s not yet available in the States (except as an expensive import CD) it’s available for purchase at Bleep.com and highly recommended.
New titles at Rhapsody include The Wedding Present’s Take Fountain , Credence Clearwater Revival’s Born on the Bayou , the Kings of Leon’s excellent new album Aha Shake Heartbreak , Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Give Me Power and Jethro Tull’s Aqualung .
