Uppsala, Sweden-based Mimer Information Technology AB on Tuesday introduced Mimer SQL for Mac OS X. This Structured Query Language (SQL) touts a small footprint, scalability to large applications, low maintenance and great ease of use. Mimer SQL 9.2 for Mac OS X has been released as a beta version, and is free for testing and development purposes — companies interested in licensing the software can contact Mimer for details.
Mimer Information Technology product manager Stefan Eck said that Apple’s commitment to the enterprise market and increased server sales make it a good time to bring Mimer SQL to the Mac. “We are looking forward to reach new groups of users. This includes both end users with mission critical systems and independent software vendors that provides high volume products for the Mac OS X,” said Eck in a statement.
Mimer SQL features full support for ISO SQL:1999, ODBC, JDBC and Unicode standards. It has built-in multilingual support for more than 150 languages, including Chinese, Japanese and 15 different Indian languages. It can also be combined with WebObjects, JBoss, Tomcat, Omnis and 4D.
