Apple is testing a new chat support service for customers of its consumer-based iMac computer. The service, according to Apple, is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
To qualify for the service you must have purchased an iMac in the last 90 days or have an iMac covered under an AppleCare Protection Plan.
“It’s fast, it’s easy, it’s convenient, and you’ll get proactive, comprehensive help from a real live person right here in your browser,” says a note on Apple’s Web site.
To use the service you will need a compatible Web browser — currently Apple supports Safari 1.1 or later, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2 or later or Netscape 7.2 or later. If you login using Windows, Apple supports Internet Explorer 5.0 or later.
