Wincent on Friday released an update to Synergy, its iTunes utility that places buttons for controlling the music player in the Finder menu bar. It also automatically downloads cover art and features a semi-transparent floating window that displays the artist name and song title for the current track. Version 1.7 adds support for Growl, a system-wide utility that displays current information for a wide variety of applications, including iTunes.
Synergy 1.7 also offers the ability to launch AppleScripts for updating iChat with current track information or other tasks. In addition, it includes 32 new button sets for customizing Synergy’s look and feel as well as bug fixes and Turkish localization. Wincent doesn’t note if this is a free upgrade. The full software is US$10, with multi-user discounts available. Mac OS X v10.2.2 or higher is required.
