Pangea Software on Monday announced that the source code for its PangeaVR plug-in, which was released last Friday, is now available on its Web site. PangeaVR is a free Web browser plug-in that enables viewing QuickTime VR panoramas at frame rates of 150 to 350 fps (frames per second). It’s compatible with Safari, Netscape and Mozilla, but it requires that Web pages include HTML code written specifically for its use. Pangea notes that it doesn’t override QuickTime as the default viewer for .mov files. The developer is looking for others who can port PangeaVR to Windows and Linux.
