Virtual Programming Ltd. has announced the release of Savage: The Battle for Newerth, a game that combines real-time strategy with shooter action. The game is set in a fantasy world eons from now when humans and beasts battle for control of the planet. What’s more, they’ve posted a playable demo that’s available for download.
You can play as a commander and manage resources and use the defenses of your stronghold to their maximum potential, or you can be a warrior and play the game from as a 3D shooter. The game also features online play for up to 64 gamers at once.
Don’t look for the Mac conversion of Savage: The Battle for Newerth on store shelves, however. Virtual Programming Ltd. is making the game available exclusively as an online download. It costs £19.95 (US$37.29). System requirements call for G3/800MHz, 256MB RAM, ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce 3D graphics card and 56Kbps Internet connection for online play.
