WiebeTech LLC on Tuesday introduced new Combo Adapters, designed to work with WiebeTech’s ComboDock. The two devices let IT personnel, forensic investigators, techs and others mount a wide variety of hard drives on their computers.
The Forensic ComboDock allows write-block access to a hard disk drive using FireWire 400 and FireWire 800; the “regular” ComboDock allows full read/write access. The ComboDock works with 3.5-inch hard drives, but WiebeTech’s new Combo Adapters let ComboDocks connect to 1.8-inch drives made by Hitachi and Toshiba, 2.5-inch notebook drives made by various manufacturers, MicroDrives, CompactFlash modules, PC card drives and 2.5 and 3.5-inch Serial ATA (SATA) drives. All Combo Adapters include an enclosure.
Also new is a Cable Adapter that lets techs connect to a hard disk drive mechanism that is inside an existing computer system that, for whatever reason, can’t be physically removed.
Combo Adapters cost from US$49.95 to $99.95 depending on what hard drives they’ll be used with; a kit of 7 adapters is available for $499.95. The new Cable Adapter costs $24.95.
