Web Crossing Inc. announced the release of a new Content Blob Management plug-in for its self-named collaboration server software. The plug-in helps non-technical administrators to control the access of content posted to their Web Crossing site. It’s available free for a limited time.
Web Crossing features discussion group and bulletin board support, newsgroups and mailing list, e-mail and calendar services, real-time chats, live events and Web application programming capabilities. It’s available either as a hosted service or as licensed software running on your own equipment.
The new Content Blob Management plug-in doesn’t require the administrator to know HTML. “Blobs” can contain text, images and other elements and can include “boxes” with titles to maintain a consistent look and feel. Also supported is Web Crossing Template Language (WCTL), which can be used to script dynamic content. Pop-up menus allow you to place content blobs on pages, and you can designate host access for specific blob controls. More details are available from the Web Crossing Web site.
