Spiderweb Software has released Geneforge III, its latest fantasy role-playing adventure game for the Macintosh. A Windows version is due out this summer. The latest installment of the Geneforge saga, this game puts you in the role of a Shaper. You have the ability “to create life and mold it to sever your own needs.”
Rebels and monsters have challenged the rule of the Shapers, bringing chaos and anarchy to your world. “On your own, in a foreign land, you will have to attain power, find allies, and discover a way to defeat the rebels. Or perhaps, you will join the rebels instead. Because, for some reason, they seem very eager to recruit you …”
A turn-based adventure game featuring an isometric 3D graphics engine, Geneforge 3 features an open storyline that terminates with dozens of different endings, depending on the choices you make. You can join the rebels, or fight against them. You can fight your enemies in open combat, or you can use your stealth skills and diplomacy to get your way.
Geneforge III runs on Mac OS 8.6 or later and runs natively on Mac OS X. It costs US$25, or $32 with a hint book included.
