Following publisher Virtual Programming Ltd.’s February announcement that the Mac conversion of its KnightShift game is done, Freeverse Software confirmed Thursday that it is now distributing the game throughout North America.
KnightShift is described as a “genre-bending game” that combines elements of real time strategy and role playing. It’s set in a medieval world where you can assume the role of an Archer, Amazon, Sorcerer, Priestess, Barbarian or Spearman to battle in RPG mode. Alternately, you can play the game as the protector of Wizard Towers in its RTS mode. A Campaign mode lets you play both modes alternately to save your Kingdom.
KnightShift features more than 20 missions, hundreds of quests 80 different characters and creatures with which to interact, a game world editor and more. Apple has posted a a trailer of the game in QuickTime format.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.4 or higher, G3/800MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, an OpenGL-compliant graphics card and 1.5GB of hard disk space. Online play requires an Internet connection. Freeverse is selling KnightShift for US$39.95. A demo is available.
